The story starts with John, a software engineer, who created the 5000th issue on GitHub. He was celebrated by the tech community and was sent a mysterious invitation to receive a gift from an anonymous admirer.
He arrives at an old castle and is welcomed by a cloaked figure. The figure tells him that he has been chosen to receive a very special reward for his achievement: a screenshot of the milestone he reached on GitHub. The figure reveals to John that he is actually a time traveler from hundreds of years in the future and that the screenshot is meant to be kept for posterity.
John is both confused and excited about his new adventure, but he soon realizes that something strange is happening—the screenshot appears to be changing before his very eyes! Every few minutes, the screenshot seems to alter—different words, phrases, and characters appear as if they are being created anew.
John soon deduces that whoever took this screenshot must have the ability to manipulate price and time itself.
